SNIPEF

The Plumbing Industry Licensing Scheme was established in 2002 to increase the professionalism of the plumbing industry. A number of partner organisations were involved in its development including Scottish Water, the Scottish Consumer Council and the Northern Ireland Consumer Council, the Chief Officers of Trading Standards in Scotland and the Scottish Association of Chief Building Control Officers amongst others. There has also been significant input and support from the Scottish Building Standards Agency (SBSA).

The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) is an independent, not-for-profit approvals body providing inspection services for the security and fire industries. BICSI

BICSI is a professional association supporting the information transport systems (ITS) industry with information, education and knowledge assessment for individuals and companies. CHAS

Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme. Local authority health and safety and contract professionals, supported by the Health and Safety Executive, have developed the Contractor Health and Safety (CHAS) Assessment Scheme over recent years. It is now available for any public sector organisation to use in their pre-qualification process for contractor application for approved/select list or short-listing. It provides information relating to the health and safety element of the application only. It should be noted that RIBSD are in the process of applying for Accreditaion to CHAS.

The Royal Warrant Holders Association

History of The Royal Warrant From earliest times tradesmen and women have served their sovereign by providing goods and services – from making robes and regalia to repairing roofs and painting walls. The first rewards for this loyal service came in the form of Royal Charters which were granted to the trade guilds, later known as livery companies. The earliest recorded Royal Charter was granted to the Weavers’ Company in 1155 by Henry II. In 1394 Dick Whittington helped obtain a Royal Charter for his own Company, the Mercers, who traded in luxury fabrics.
